Acolyte Candle Lighting Order

Light the seven candles offices lights on the altar starting with the candle closest to the altar.

Light the candle next to the cross first. The gospel side first and from the outermost in. Easy access to your order history and status already registered. Extinguish the candles in the reverse order that you lit them.

Many people are watching as you do this. Begin with the left candle. Use the bell shaped snuffer on the end of the candle lighter to extinguish a candle. The order of the candles is not the most important part what is important is that you act dignified and reverent as you do this.

If a candle is hard to light the wick gets submerged or some other problem it s ok to take the candle down to get a better.

Extinguish the tall paschal candle at the end of the 5 00 p m. Enter the chancel during the first hymn and as the processional begins. The acolyte director or another adult will do lighting of the acolyte wicks. Acolytes should not light the wicks themselves.
