For an 8 block wall pool we want to mark the location 12 larger on all walls. These areas have to be dug up and or chipped away into a flat area and then sand or limestone is brought in for leveling. Set stakes at the 4 corners of the dig area cross measure to ensure the dimensions are square. Stacking the blocks with cores lined up put a rebar vertically every 8 inches. It provides the wall footing and reinforcement designs for building above ground and in ground icf pools cisterns and water basins. This is just one method for building a concrete swimming pool.

In some areas of the country the ground is too hard as it is mostly rock or hard clay. Like a semi inground pool an above ground concrete pool needs retaining walls to sustain the pressure from the thousands of gallons of water. First establish the size of the swimming pool and the location.
